Not all performers are built for competitions. As Bartok famously said, “Competitions are for horses.” We also felt that there were too few performance opportunities for students. So we worked together with friends and colleagues in north Texas to put together a brand new initiative - a studio orchestra performance opportunity for any deserving young soloist, and not exclusively for competition winners.

We also feel that much growth happens in the laboratory of performance. This is why we call it an “academy” - the learning that happens in performing cannot be duplicated anywhere else.
